Becoming furniture

There often enough and long enough that when an athlete is finally ready to talk, there is already someone to talk to.

Part of embedded work is learning to be present without becoming part of the spotlight. Sometimes the job is to be a familiar piece of furniture in the room: there often enough and long enough that when an athlete is finally ready to talk, there is already someone to talk to. That same familiarity shows me how a team works, and that lets me help leadership build support into everyday life, before a crisis brings anyone to our attention.
